So the Blackberry Bold is coming out in its I must say beautifully redeisgned glory that doe share similair design elements from the iPhone, it has great new features and better yet a new OS and interface. And guess who the first “exclusive” carrier is going to be, why thats right AT&T. Problem? Yes. The Bold is a direct competitor to the iPhone and AT&T has both exclusively. This is bad news for the iPhone, and this on top of other reasons is why Apple needs to jump the exclusive ship and spread out. Reach the greatest ammount of customers possible not reaching the smallest ammount of customers possible. Apple needs to open the iPhone up to the second largest network in America and the highest ranked in customer satisfaciton VERIZON. The iPhone should be available to as many people as possible if Apple really wants to make a dent, because guess what the Bold may be with AT&T for a while but Blackberry knows how to make money and you can put money on RIM opening up to the other carriers within 6 months. Apple tried to show favoritism to AT&T, it tried to forge a strong one carrier alliance; but it failed, and not because Apple didn't try but because AT&T is more interested in selling competitors phones, providing crappy service and not keeping up to their end of the bargain. It's time to cut the deal and cut your losses. Verizon is the NO1 network on the East Coast and thats a big market that Apple is throwing away by not pushing the iPhone there.
Online you can share your life with others, what news articles you find interesting, the photos and family videos you take, your quick little thoughts, your long thoughts, your discussions, what products you find to be cool or interesting. The daily interactions and social actions we make with physical people, we can and do have them online to share with the world. Enter friendfeed, most of you know it, it aggregates all of your web actions from Twitter, to Flickr, to Amazon, to Digg, to Google Reader, pretty much everything. I'd love to see the implementation of this service into Vox, maybe on the Sidebar allowing a small stream of my friendfeed actions.
What's the best thing about today?
Well it's certainly not the cold wet weather. And it's not working from 10-4 with very little to do. Must be my Mom's improving condition in the hospital.
A momentous event occurred last night. The US Missile Shield went online and in a successful real world test had a successful kill of a large moving celestial target, not just a successful kill but the missile hit an exact area on that target, the fuel tank. The media hasn't really grasped what this means. The threat of nuclear warfare, and nuclear attacks from ICBM's from China and Russia is now gone. We alone hold the nuclear card, and what that does for diplomacy is even more profound. We can now pursue a foreign policy towards China and Russia that truly represents the best interests of the United States, we can now push harder and more intensely without having to worry about pissing them off and getting into a standoff. Sure there's traditional military concerns but seriously, I don't think anyone has to worry about any contest of US vs China vs Russia. A traditional military conflict would be bloody, and mostly naval/air but the nuclear card is gone.
Interested in what I'm doing across the net. Well check out my friendfeed. From there you can see my Google Reader activity, flickr, twitter, you name it.
We're 25 days away till the end of February. That also means we're 25 days till the iPod Touch/iPhone SDK releases. I myself am very, very excited. Games, AudioScrobbler, A Dictionary App, and hopefully (this is my request) A NIKE+ APP!!! Please Apple, Nike, SOMEONE!!!! Make a Nike+ app for the iTouch OS. There is absolutely no reason that someone (especially you Apple) can't make an app that links with the receiver. I feel as an iPod Touch user kinda screwed. Here I paid 300 dollars, thats 50 bucks more than the iPod Classic, and 150 more than the damned Nano and I don't have two features that those have. The Nano has Nike+ integration, and the Classic has games. The Touch, has neither of those. I bought the top of the line iPod why the hell don't I have these two features! GET ON IT!
Im just tesitng a mobile VOX post. So I love my new phone except for some problems. I'll espouse on those later in a real post.
So we (The Carolinian) are going to San Francisco for the Associated Collegiate Press conference from Feb28th to Mar2nd. Any one in the area have any restaurant recommendations, tourist attractions, anything I should go see, do, or eat?
